Maintaining Patio Umbrella Lights

Here are some tips on maintaining patio umbrella lights so that they can last you longer.

Put away patio umbrella lights during severe weather. They will most likely break during a very fierce storm. You should also put them away during rainy and snowy season if you don’t plan on spending time outside.

When you’re planning to be away from home for a while, or if you’re going on a long trip, bring your patio umbrella lights inside. This is to prevent them from being stolen from your patio when you’re not there. Good places to store them in are your garage, shed, or inside your home.

Keep electric patio umbrella lights away from water if they aren't waterproof. This is extremely dangerous if anyone is in contact with the water. If you’re using solar patio umbrella lights then this doesn't apply to you.

Be careful with patio umbrella lights that use electrical cords. It’s possible for people to trip over them, especially kids who are running around in your yard. Don’t let kids play with the umbrella lights. Some younger children might try to grab umbrella string lights and tug them down. Both of these actions can damage the lights and possibly the umbrella as well.

There are many precautions to take with patio umbrella lights. Once they’re damaged beyond repair you’ll have to get a replacement. If you follow this advice your patio umbrella lights should last you longer.
